What is the "Fire"

The fire is the punishment man receives for disobeying Allah. As we mentioned before, doing the Will of Allah brings about beauty into the society. Therefore, the antithesis is that to not do the Will of Allah brings about horrible conditions in society. When we look at the world today we see many moral issues. The question becomes, what causes these issues? We know that the enemy of man seeks to destroy man, but one of the ways he does it is by exploiting man's human nature. For example, the appetite for sex is apart of human nature but if there are influences in the environment who's purpose is to drive that appetite to an extreme then it can destroy the life of that person. Essentially putting their life in a hellish state.

Now who does the satan work through? He works through the leaders in the society. They too must manage their appetites. Imagine if a businessman lusts for wealth and material strength, he is subject to making his business such that it doesn't serve man's life, rather it works against it. It works against it by not respecting his moral life.

So ultimately hellfire is a condition that is caused by the mismanagement of our passions and appetites. If these go unchecked they can rule the life of man and this rule brings about a decadent society. Allah intended for man to govern his life through his moral and rational nature, when we do this we live true, intelligent human life and can be saved from the fire.
